We’re thrilled that we have managed to get Jamie Hamilton to play moofest this year and delighted that he agreed to close the Sunbird Records stage on 10th July. Jamie we love you and I’m sure once the moofesters have read on they will to:

Who’s in the band and what do they play?

It’s usually just me, but there might be some special guests for Moofest *mysterious pause for emphasis* …

What inspired you to make music together?

I was inspired to make music together with myself by having no friends.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?

My first EP, Roots, was very stripped back – similar to my live performances. Since working with JL on Circles, I’ve become a bit bolder and started playing with synths, drum machines and other noises. I think my new EP is the most ambitious thing I’ve done – it is made up of increasingly electronic songs based around a loose narrative and all held together by a short story. It’s all very emo.

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Banana on’t go – I’m a busy man.

What’s your favourite breakfast cereal?

Probably muesli. Because I’m beige.

What would you do if you were invisible for a day?

Wander around Liam O’Doherty and James Ruane’s house knocking things over and making ghost noises.

What’s your favourite ride at the fair?

The refreshment van.

Have you ever milked a cow?

Only on Warioware: Touched.

What’s your favourite cheese?

All cheeses are beautiful and I love them all in different ways.

What’s your favourite sandwich?

Black bean tortas with avocado and chipotle mayo (hipster).

Did you have a nickname at school?

I didn’t have a nickname until I was 25 and Jordan Riding (Naut) christened me as The Hammer.

Have you ever written a fan letter?

No. Although I have written a complaint letter to Birdseye for only putting 11 fish fingers in my 12 pack of fish fingers.

What’s your most disgusting habit?

Writing complaint letters to Birdseye for only putting 11 fish fingers in my 12 pack of fish fingers.

If you were a domestic appliance what would it be?

An angry, bitter washing machine that tries to convince all the other appliances that they need to rise up and overthrow the humans.

What’s your favourite word?

Defenestration (the act of throwing someone out of a window). Think my friend Farmer taught me that one. I almost want to throw someone out of a window just so that I can use it.

Can you think of a good poem about moofest?

*Clears throat*
Moofest – short for moosic festival,
Something, something, dark, celestial.
Beer and food,
Silent disco,
Something witty, San Francisco.
Main stage – Searching for Seraphim,
Rhyming couplets, terrapin.

Tell us a joke?

No.

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?

Don’t expect anybody to do anything for you – learn how to do it yourself instead. Expect to be poor. Expect to play to empty rooms. Don’t expect people to listen. Stay to watch the other bands. Keep being yourself.

How can the moofesters get hold of your music?

I have a new single that’s literally just come out. You can listen to it here. You’ll be able to buy the EP soon, it’s officially out on 15th July. But I’ll probably sell pirate copies to willing Moofesters.

Any last words?

JP Chenet.

Thanks Jamie for taking part in the moofest blog. Moofester make sure you visit Jamie’s soundcloud and get hold of his new single and then we can all sing along with him at moofest. Jamie appears on the Sunbird Records stage on Sunday 10th July. To purchase tickets click here
